| The Big One Roller Coaster. |
 |
| The Pleasure Beach tends to be lit throughout their opening season, but once September comes the entire length of Blackpool's seafront from Starr Gate in the south to Bispham in the north becomes one long free magical show.
The best way to see it all is on foot, this will take you quite a while and you must be fit! The second best way to see it is to take one of the special tram tours. |

An old favourite, the wild west loco illuminated tramcar (left) and
flying saucers made an appearance for the 1998 season.
The "lights" as they are known locally, are at their best after a shower of rain helps create a few reflections. |

Huge tableaux adorn the cliffs at Bispham where the
display ends, north of Blackpool. Early displays had bulbs lighting up small segments to allow animation of nursery rhymes etc. Many are still used, though they seem to tax parents' memories more than they used to... |
 |
| Modern tableaux are more ambitious. Large scale models are animated and
inflatable balloons are used to great shock effect!

the main cliff-top tableaux stretch onwards to Bispham station where the Illuminations finish. |
