| The village of Bispham pre-dates Blackpool by several hundred years. The parish
church boasts a Norman doorway, though all the stones have been re-cut.
Now the village has been swallowed up by Blackpool almost but it still retains its identity.

A solitary rock - just a speck on this photo to the right of a wave and pointed to by the stream - stands on the beach and is known as Pennystone Rock.
Bispham has the highest cliffs on the NW coast, affording views of the Lake District Mountains and the shipyard cranes of Barrow on clear days. |

Travelling down Red Bank Road takes us past Sainsbury's supermarket, whose car park is on the site of former tramsheds.
