The Olympia building took up the space left by the dismantling of the Big Wheel
in 1928. It housed a fairground and amusements before more recently being used as a children's
playground, market and exhibition hall and even a go-kart track. |

It is seen here in the early 1980s just before the fairground was dismantled to make way for Jungle Jim's Adventure Park for kiddies. The heyday for the indoor fairground was in the 1960s when I remember riding a big wheel inside the building! |

Some work is currently (August 1998) being undertaken on the upper landing
of the Olympia building. A balcony runs along the west side of the building. |
