| Well, I have to admit that I didn't get into Blackpool as much as I normally do
this year, so I'll just put all the pics together on one page for you!
The lifeboat house next to the Central Pier had housed the Blackpool lifeboat for many years.
The previous one still stands on Lytham Road just off the Promenade near the Manchester Hotel.
In 1999 a brand new lifeboat house was opened on the Promenade closer to the Slade. |

Following the closure of the Odeon Cinema on Dickson Road, a new multi-screen Odeon opened on a patch of land off Rigby Road.
The latest sound systems and equipment are installed and watching a film here almost makes
you think that nostalgia for cinemascope screens ain't what it used to be!
Having watched the new Star Wars with sound coming from all directions makes going to an older
cinema something of a let-down! (Puts best teeth in and mumbles in aged voice) I can remember when you had to go to a cinema to buy a copy of Film Review! |
| One Saturday afternoon in September we spent an hour on
the Promenade waiting for the Red Arrows to perform. The weather up near the North Pier was
beautiful.
And the weather down at the airport was pretty good too... that's where the Red Arrows
were...
Meanwhile, having been blown from the windy beach, the blue bikini top found a landing
place... |

| There was an air show going on at Southport that day and
also some other displays at the airport.
Rides in DC3 Dakotas and a Rapide were available.
In this photo, one of the Dakotas cruises slowly over the North Pier. Carrying 35
passengers, they were used by numerous small airlines after World War II.
What? You can't see it very well? Well take my word for it! It's a DC3! From where I was
sitting it looked nothing like a seagull... |

Without a single X-Files agent in sight, the biggest
paranormal exhibition in the world opened over Burger King.
There must be a joke in that somewhere... |
